Redefining Success

In a land where all we do is eat, poverty cannot be seen as a temporary house guest. Showing off newly acquired apple and Samsung products; filling one’s kitchen cabinet with the latest imported crockery; feeling proud to have
access to contraband goods; looking down on the world from the lofty view of an ‘oil worker’ with an expatriate boss.
We have been so stricken with lack and want that our definition of creativity is been shrunk to fit into a stereotype of just being different-be it productive or not, value adding or just entertaining.
We need to redefine success. Success cannot just be tied to learning to use what has been brought to full life by another, success needs to be tied to bringing to life what we and others can learn to use.
Agbe l’oba!! E je ka pada s’oko!!
